On 21 October 2026, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) invoked Stage I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the entire National Capital Region. Delhi’s AQI had climbed from 179 the day before to 244 at 2 PM. That is the Poor band. Gurugram and Noida were Poor too, at 216 and 249 on that evening’s CPCB bulletin.

Then a spell of rain gave everyone a breather. By 4 PM on 25 October, the CPCB bulletin had Delhi at 153, Gurugram at 134 and Noida at 131, all Moderate. Don’t plan around it. The government’s Air Quality Early Warning System expects Delhi to slip back to Poor from 26 to 28 October, with Poor to Moderate air for the six days after that. Stage I remains in force.

For HR, admin and people teams, this is the stretch of the year when every fun Friday and December offsite needs a backup. We think there’s a simpler way. Make indoors the main plan. This guide covers what each GRAP stage means for team events in Gurugram and Noida, and how a plug-and-play console gaming zone keeps people together inside.

What does GRAP Stage I mean for your team events right now?

Stage I has 25 action points. Most of them target construction dust, waste burning, traffic and industry. A handful land directly on event plans:

  • Diesel generators: DG sets are not to be used as a regular source of power, and their operation is regulated under CAQM’s Direction No. 76. Portable DG sets below 19 kW are not generally permitted. The citizen charter asks everyone to avoid DG sets except for essential activities.
  • Coaches from outside the region: inter-city and inter-state buses from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other neighbouring states may ply in Delhi NCR only if they are EV, CNG or BS-VI diesel.
  • Tandoors: coal and firewood are banned as tandoor fuel in hotels, restaurants and open eateries. Only electric, gas or other clean fuel appliances are allowed.
  • Commuting: offices are encouraged to start a unified commute for employees.

Picture the classic winter team day. A farmhouse lawn, a hired generator, a live tandoor counter and a coach full of colleagues from another city. Under Stage I, that is four separate questions for four vendors. An indoor event in your own office or a hotel banquet hall, running on the building’s mains power, raises none of them.

What changes if the air gets worse and GRAP moves up a stage?

GRAP has four stages, all based on Delhi’s AQI:

  • Stage I (Poor): AQI 201 to 300
  • Stage II (Very Poor): AQI 301 to 400
  • Stage III (Severe): AQI 401 to 450
  • Stage IV (Severe+): AQI above 450

Each stage adds to the ones before it. CAQM can also invoke a stage in advance when the forecast shows the AQI is likely to reach that level and stay there. So the rules can change before the number does.

Stage II: Very Poor

The Delhi and NCR state governments stagger timings for public offices and municipal bodies in Delhi and the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida). The citizen charter adds that people whose roles allow it may work from home. Roads get busier at odd hours and some desks sit empty.

Stage III: Severe

This is where team events start to feel it. BS III petrol and BS IV diesel cars face strict restrictions in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Classes up to Class V move to hybrid mode in Delhi and the four big NCR districts, so parents of young children may be juggling school runs. State governments decide whether public, municipal and private offices work at 50% strength with the rest at home. The citizen charter also asks people to postpone private gatherings that increase traffic and outdoor exposure.

Stage IV: Severe+

Citizens are advised to limit non-essential outdoor activity. State governments may consider further emergency steps, such as closing non-emergency commercial activities or running vehicles on an odd-even basis.

The pattern is clear. An outdoor offsite that needs travel is the plan most likely to break as stages rise. A short indoor session close to where people already work is the one most likely to survive.

Which indoor team building formats work for Gurugram and Noida offices this winter?

A console gaming zone fits into a cafeteria, a collaboration floor or a hotel ballroom, and it gives people a reason to gather that has nothing to do with the view outside. These are the setups we run most for people teams:

  • PS5 competitive arena: FC, Tekken and racing brackets with a live leaderboard. Works well for floor-versus-floor or team-versus-team contests on a fun Friday.
  • PS4 value pods: compact co-op stations with party titles for mixed groups. Easy to scale from 3 to 10 pods for bigger headcounts.
  • Xbox 360 motion lounge: full-body Kinect games with no controller to learn. It gets people moving indoors on a day nobody wants to step outside, and it pulls in colleagues who say they don’t play games.
  • Meta Quest 3S VR corner: wireless headsets with curated titles. A good fit for a leadership lounge, a client visit or a quieter corner of a bigger event.

Most bookers pair two formats, one competitive and one casual, so regular players and first-timers both stay involved. For titles that work in groups, see our list of the best multiplayer games for office team bonding.

How do you move a fun Friday or an offsite indoors without losing the energy?

  1. Pick the room first. A cafeteria, a large meeting room or a banquet hall near the office all work. Shorter travel matters more when commutes are already messy.
  2. Check the power. Our setups need standard 230V mains with one 15A socket per station. We bring power strips and manage the load, so nothing depends on a generator.
  3. Give it a structure. A bracket with a final at 5 PM creates a reason to stay. A motion lounge running alongside keeps the non-competitive crowd busy.
  4. Keep it inside office hours. If Stage II staggers some commutes, a 3 PM to 6 PM block on a Friday is easier to protect than a full-day outing.
  5. Plan for people at home. If Stage III sends part of the team remote, our piece on gamified team building for hybrid workplaces has ideas for keeping them part of it.
  6. Watch the forecast in the week before. Check the AQI on the SAMEER app and the stage in force on the CAQM website a few days out, then again the day before.

Should you rent consoles or book a managed gaming zone?

It comes down to headcount and how hands-on your team wants to be.

For a small team that wants a weekly lunch-hour league through the smog months, renting is the easy route. A plug-and-play console goes into the break room and people play. Book on WhatsApp and we’ll sort the console and games library for your dates. On rent vs buy, buying hardware for a few months of office use rarely adds up, and our breakdown of console rentals vs buying for businesses in Delhi NCR explains why.

For a team day, a townhall break or a year-end party, a managed setup takes the load off. We run structured tournaments for 20 to 500 players, the zone is live in under 45 minutes, and an on-site attendant handles queues, brackets and rotations. You get to host instead of troubleshoot. See what’s included on our corporate events page.

What mistakes should HR teams avoid when planning winter team building in Delhi NCR?

  1. Keeping indoors as plan B. If a higher stage arrives the week of your event, a backup booked late is usually a worse one.
  2. Assuming the venue’s generator is fine. Ask lawn and farmhouse venues how they power the event under Stage I rules.
  3. Checking the AQI only on the morning. Stages can be invoked on the forecast, days ahead.
  4. Running only competitive games. A bracket on its own leaves non-gamers watching. Add a motion lounge or VR corner.
  5. Briefing late. Weekend and month-end slots fill fastest across Delhi NCR.

What do HR teams ask us about indoor team building under GRAP?

Is GRAP Stage I in force in Gurugram and Noida?

Yes. CAQM invoked Stage I across the entire NCR on 21 October 2026, which covers Gurugram and Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida). Check the CAQM website for the stage currently in force.

Does a console gaming zone need a generator?

No. Our setups run on standard 230V mains with one 15A socket per station. We bring power strips and manage the load.

Can we hold it inside our own office?

Yes. Cafeterias and collaboration floors work well as long as there is floor space and power. Share the room details when you brief us and we’ll suggest a layout.

Will colleagues who don’t play games take part?

Usually, yes. Motion games on the Xbox 360 and easy party titles need no gaming experience. Pair a motion lounge with a competitive PS5 station so both groups have somewhere to go.

Which consoles and headsets do you bring?

We work with PS5, PS4, Xbox 360 and Meta Quest 3S, plus a games library. We match the mix to your headcount and audience after the brief.

Do you cover Gurugram, Noida and the rest of Delhi NCR?

Yes. We set up in offices, campuses, hotels and banquet venues across Delhi NCR, including Gurugram and Noida.

How do we get a quote?

Send your date, city, headcount and event type through the corporate events page, or book on WhatsApp. We usually come back with a suggested setup and a quote within the hour.

Ready to keep your team indoors this winter?

If you are planning a fun Friday, a team day or a year-end party for a Gurugram or Noida office, we can plan the gaming zone, set it up and run it on the day, whatever the GRAP stage.
